Hi, I’m Ali!
My journey as a doctor has taken me far from where I started. I began my medical career in Iran, working in some of the most challenging and rewarding areas of medicine, from emergency rooms to transplant wards. I loved my work, but I always had a dream of experiencing medicine beyond my own borders, learning from different healthcare systems, and building a career that could truly be global.
When I decided to move abroad, I quickly discovered that it was not just about packing a suitcase and booking a flight. There were licensing exams to pass, endless forms to fill, and an entirely new healthcare culture to understand. I went through the long process of preparing for and passing the PLAB exams, gaining GMC registration in the UK, and later navigating the pathway to work in Australia through the Competent Authority Pathway.
It was exciting, but it was also overwhelming at times. I remember feeling like there was no single place that explained everything clearly, no one to guide me through each step in a way that made sense for my own situation. I had to piece together advice from different sources, learn from my mistakes, and find my own way forward.
Over time, I realised that my experience could help other doctors who were going through the same journey. That is why I created Borderless M.D. a space where I can share everything I have learned about moving, working, and thriving as a doctor in the UK and Australia.
